Stephen Brown

Stephen Brown was born in England in 1951 but has spent most of his life in Canada. After graduating from McMaster University with a BSc degree in physics, he moved into industry, working on military and geophysical instruments before returning to university to commercialize atmospheric research equipment for the Institute for Space and Terrestrial Science at York University, Toronto. While there he obtained his MSc in space science. After retiring, he moved to Prince Edward County where he lives with his wife Sandra.

Stephen began his first novel in 1974 while returning from a trip to New Zealand. He finished it twenty-three years later, just when e-novels were becoming popular. Since then his output has improved. Stephen has been with Club Lighthouse Publishing since 2012.

Retired bureaucrat, Hendrik Glauston, has enjoyed a rewarding life. For fifty years he lived with the woman he loved in their perfect cottage at the side of a river. They worked hard, served their country well and were rewarded for their work. Now that his wife has died, Hendrik is having doubts. The country he served is going in the wrong direction. He is not the only one who thinks so. There are many who are critical, many who are more important and more vocal about the failings of the present regime. So why, Hendrik wonders, is he the one who worries them? What is it in his past that makes him so dangerous?

The Maisonist by Stephen Brown...

There are places in this world, beautiful places, too dangerous for people with unsettled minds. Jon Jameson needs a refuge and believes that he has found one. He's bought a cottage, a retreat nestled in the woods where he feels safe and where he can rest. It lies at the bottom of an immense garden, an extension of the mansion to the north. Jon has visited the mansion, wandered the garden paths, watched the skaters on the pond and spent hours with the young woman he met there. He would be in Heaven, except that the mansion is a ruin, the garden hasn't existed for decades and the woman he's fallen in love with was murdered a century ago.
